Weather - Two succinct seasons define Moscow’s weather patterns - summer and winter. If you have a hardy constitution and carry off the Siberian coat look with panache then you won’t let the icy temperatures (sometimes reaching -20 degrees) bother you. On the plus side a coating of snow only heightens Moscow’s aesthetic beauty and you will find yourself in a real-life Russian winter wonderland. March brings the big thaw producing ugly clumps of slush that clog the streets and then between May and September, the summer months kick in bringing sizzling temperatures the tourists and queues. Consequently, the best time to visit is late spring or autumn when the weather is mild, skies are high and Moscow isn’t too crowded.
